New format for the Montréal edition of the Mondial de la Bière
Attended by more than 2.2 million visitors, the event is to become biennial
Montréal, 23 April 2026 – The Mondial de la Bière, a cornerstone of brewing culture for over three decades, today announces a strategic shift. To respond to changes in the industry and continue its local and international mission with its usual success, the event will now adopt a biennial format.
Since its inception in 1994, the Mondial de la Bière has welcomed over 2.2 million visitors across 174 days of activities, featuring 2,776 breweries from Canada and around the world, 573 food exhibitors, cideries, mead producers, distilleries and industry representatives, with sales totalling over $14 million.
The microbrewery sector, consumer habits and foot traffic in downtown Montréal have evolved in recent years, and the management of the Mondial de la Bière has chosen to adapt. “We must keep pace with local and international trends and realities. We have always delivered highly successful events, and we remain committed to excellence for our exhibitors, partners and our wonderful audience,” explains Jeannine Marois, president and co-founder of the Mondial de la Bière.
“By switching to a biennial event, we are adapting our format whilst maintaining the same objective: to ensure the event remains attractive for decades to come and to cement Montréal’s status as the beer capital of North America,” she adds. The Mondial de la Bière team continues to offer its services to the industry and is open to collaboration with partners in Quebec and internationally.
The Mondial de la Bière thanks its community—brewers, exhibitors, visitors and volunteers—for their unwavering support. The team continues to work actively to promote excellence in brewing. We are coming back in 2027. for a fully revamped edition, at an all-new location.
