With the some of the country's larger barley and hops regions within its borders, and a constant source of clean, fresh water from nearby mountain ranges, it's no wonder Washington state produces so many award-winning craft beers.
The Evergreen State is no newcomer to artisan brewing. Bert Grant, a pioneer in the world of craft beer, started making his brews close to the hop fields in Yakima more than 20 years ago. That tradition of fresh beer continues in Washington today.
As the "last frontier," Alaska certainly has been forging its own way in the craft beer world.
Alaskans are known for pushing boundaries, and Alaska's growing community of artisan brewers is no different. This is where you will find some extreme beers, but you will also discover some nice, quiet cozy brews to settle down with during a long winter night -- or a long summer day!
Whether your travels take you to an urban trek through Seattle's brewpubs or on a rustic ramble through Alaska's wild country, you'll certainly find plenty of excellent artisan beers to fit the bill.
Enjoy!
